They Might be Giants: Moonbeam Rays

I was thrilled when director J.D. Amato asked me to shoot a new music video for They Might Be Giants. We aimed to keep the visuals extremely simple: high contrast, moody shapes in a sea of darkness. Lit sparingly with ETC Source Four “lekos,” I used every steel gobo I could get my hands on to craft the patches of light and shadow. I also carefully considered camera and talent placement to ensure the perspective matched across the various split-screen elements for a seamless final look.
