Where We Were

'Where We Were' is a dance film that examines isolation through confinement, manipulated space, and distorted time. A collaboration between myself, co-director and choreographer Nicole Daniell, and Swedish musician Didacte, we challenged ourselves to push screendance as an interdisciplinary art form. As director and cinematographer, I crafted emotionally distinct environments for the film’s five acts using negative space and striking, interactive lighting. The cinematography, music, and choreography were developed simultaneously in an effort to push the boundaries of what a single art form can do on its own, emphasizing the power of true collaborative work.
